APEXi Hybrid Evo Exhaust / Hello from IL
Been registered and have been lurking for a while, just never posted.
Well originally planned on getting a Nitto, but M.I. was out of stock waiting on a shipment. Jeff called and asked if I wanted to change my order to one they had... Well he said he had a APEXi used for $250 shipped. I was sold then and there. Was cheaper and sounds amazing... really deep at low rpm and dont hear it at highway speed inside the car. Other things I've done to my car.. debadge, Netz badge in front. Just a few pics, sorry no close up's of the Apexi yet but i'll take some if people want. + a picture of my other ride lol 09 kawi 650r. Only have one issue, I think it rubs on the right side wheel well.. causing that annoying ricey sounding vibration... anyone have any ideas on how to make that stop or just slide the hangers as far left as they will go? |

Meteorite metallic ftw! I bet that A'pexi sounds good. Hopefully you're on the path to more modifications

Hey, you're from Champaign? My fiancee lives close to there, and I see her every other week. Maybe we could meet up? I could help you with your mods. Even though this is my first Yaris, I've had an EF Civic, a GTO, and a 3000gt VR4, all of which I've modified and have gained a lot of experience from. Btw, I modified my midpipe to eliminate the resonator and swapped the throttle body this weekend (huge difference in sound and performance with both). If you need any help, just ask :D

Slam it? Lol bad idea for the foot of snow we always get here... It's my first year with the car... have yet to experience driving it in the snow. Debating on getting some winter tires.
Yup I'm from Champaign.. I was being followed one day by a guy in a Meteorite Metallic 3door just like mine but he turned before saying hi. Doubt he is on here.. Yeah my dads a mechanic and owns a blue 5door yaris.. I'll let you know if I do need help or wanna meet up sometime. Fun lil cars. |

With Illinois snow, the Tanabe DF210 springs seem to be one of the best options for the Yaris (my fiancee has one that I modified last summer). So, maybe don't totally slam it, but definitely lower it. It won't feel like a friggin' toll booth on wheels when you lower it lol
These definitely ARE fun cars to drive. Way more fun than my civic and GTO, but it'll need more power if it wants to compete with my last VR4 :D |

The exhaust heat shield near the midpipe/muffler flange is vibrating from the sound. Any ideas on how to make it stop?

^ have the car idling and get under the car. Pay attention to where exactly the vibrations are coming from and try reforming that area of the heat shield using pliers or something similar. Or...remove the heat shield and use rubber undercoating on the back of the heat shield - the side facing up when it's on the car.

Its at about 2.5k rpm that the sound hits... I hope its not the muffler itself internally :\ Jeff at Micro Image said it was in great shape but you can never tell internally.
You dont hear it for like the first 5minutes of driving. Its like it comes and goes? |
