KYB Strut Update!

I got an e-mail from Dan Bresnahan from KYB America today- he says that, while there is currently not a set date for the release of a Yaris application, they are currently in development and a release date should be within the next few weeks.

KYB

Those are some good news!

How does the price of the KYB performance shocks compares to the TRD shocks?

Much cheaper. When I bought my AGX (adjustable) struts for my Civic, I believe they were $50 a pop ($200 a set).

nice! I loved the GR2's on my previous cars...they didn't do well with more than a 1" drop (people I knew had them blow out frequently on a 2" drop), but for a stock ride height or just under, they helped stiffen up the ride quite a bit!

But isn't it true that when we cut the bump stoper (I did per tanabes recomendation) we are keeping the stock travel for the shock? Or something like that...

While cutting the bumpstop does help the travel get close to stock specs (there is still a much higher stress level on the strut, anyway because the piston sits lower in the tube), the ride is much rougher. I try to use a strut that is proven to perform well with a lowered ride height, and trim as little from the bump stop as possible. Research is the key- some struts just aren't meant for lowered ride heights, while others are engineered specifically for them, and little or no cutting of the bumpstop is required.

I just got in my TRD Shocks today and I wanted to let you all know that they are made by KYB. Look at the imprints on the TRD shocks and you'll find the KYB stamp on there as well. They're non-adjustable, but they are KYB none-the-less. Wasn't sure if this was new information to anyone since I only saw one other post regarding it.

LB and the sedan share the same suspension. The shocks and struts will most likely be the same.

Any news on the release of a GR2 set up for us. If they dont get it out within a couple months trd shocks it will be for me.

Same here. I am planning to purchase struts next month so if they don't release I'm going with the TRD. You are right both models have the same suspension.

I cant remember if we share the same strut and shock set up as the xa or not....

im sure they already have struts out there that will fit, but they need the measurements.

I wrote them an email, hopefully they respond....

Glad to hear the TRD shocks are KYB made. I do want a bit more drop than the springs offer, though. Might have to fix that soon.

oh yeah? and what springs are you going for? hoping I am satisfied with the Tanabe DF with the TRD Struts.

I'm a little anxious to make the change from the crap springs that are on the car now but I like the drop I have as far as looks go.

I'm actually going to do the same thing. I'm offing the TRD's for some DF's.
