weird/stupid question - Toyota Yaris Forums

I just have to ask this.

Is it possible to do a burnout with an automatic Yaris? and no, not one of the "stop your car at the top of the hill, let it roll back and floor it" kind of dealie. Just on a normal flat road with an automatic yaris.

Why I ask this stupid question? my friend was showing me racing videos on Youtube and then I started browsing and found some videos of automatic cars doing burnouts haha. It probably hurts the engine and tranny a bit for the automatic version but I'm just wondering if it's possible to randomly pull it off on a flat road.

Your best bet is going to be to throw it into neutral, rev to 5 grand, and dump the clutch. Don't do that.

Automatics can do burnouts every bit as well as a manual depending on the car, Yaris not included. The best burnout I've ever seen was a 2006 Dodge diesel truck with an automatic. Several minutes solid of rolling smoke without moving an inch. You couldn't even see the truck for most of it.

i would think that in an auto tranny in a fwd car, one can pull the e-brake all the way up, put it in "N" rev it up to at least 3k, drop it in the lowest possible selection, and keep it floored with one's left foot on the brakes slightly. i personally wouldn't know since all my cars have been manual.

wow, i just realized that i don't pay attention to the top band of the tach (i still haven't past 4k =P ). but i think the redline in our Yarii is a little past 6k. but i'm sure a tach that goes up to 8k will work just fine. i never had any experience with aftermarket tachs before. heh.

I can just imagine the snapping and banging of the tranny as it fies into a million pieces when someone tries this.

I would imagine a truck could handle it just fine... even with an auto tranny, they're built to haul, so it's going to be a much heavier-duty driveline. But an economy car with barely 100 horses? Snap like a twig, I'll bet.

WD-40 or Silicone Spray on the tires should let you get a little burnout. Just don't try going around any corners too fast directly after that. hehe

auto burnouts are easy, and you dont have to dump it from N to D. apply your e-brake. now press the foot pedal brake as hard as you can (with your left foot). With your right foot, mash on the gas. once the revs hit about 4-5k, release the foot pedal brake (left foot), continue to mash the gas. slowly release the e-brake, and you will slowy pull away from the billowing smoke...

the two foot method is "easier" on the auto trans than the N-D drop...but it will wear out the clutches in a hurry...

I know you can do a burn out, I could spin my 225/50's if I realy wanted to with a lil help with the e-brake and Bleach

I will "try" to do this burnout the way fu_im_from_texas said but no gaurantee since there have been a lot of cops circling my area lately due to the fact that some dipshits and their civics keep running around and keep screetching their tires left and right.......

Yeah, this way you just burn the torque converter and clutch packs to a crisp instead of breaking things.
