Glove box door pop open?
Hi all. My glove box door on 2009 Yaris sedan is always popping open. Is there an easy fix for this? Is this a common problem? Every time I rest my arm on there, it will pop open when I take my arm off for a second. I was hoping someone here had already come up with a DIY fix.

Its probably just me, but to the OP, did you mean arm rest/center console compartment cover?
This isnt a problem ive encountered, but if anything it should be that the plastic to lock it in place is loose. |

I think he meant center console, It would be hard for a driver to "rest" his hand on the glove box.

Both of you are obviously correct. I read 'glove box door' and thought 'I can vent just a little bit about a small peeve' (the glove box never fitting the same after putting a cabin air filter in the empty (from the factory) cabin air filter slot), and didn't pay close enough attention to the rest of the post.

Yeah sorry about that. I didn't read it after I wrote it. It's the center console door.

DIY fix? i say move expand the screw holes of the metal hinge (that attaches to the cover itself--the part you put your arm on) so that you can slide the cover a little farther back.

Excellent. One of those "duh" moments. Can't believe I didn't think of that.
