Is one subwoofer okay?
I am eyeing a 10" sub in a box with an amp and ready to plug in and was wondering if it would be fine for my Yaris sedan.
Friends have told me that just one is fine, I was wondering if it would be bad to run just one, if it could screw up the stereo or anything. I thought you had to have an even number. I am not wanting to boom loudly, I just want a nice sounding bass without torturing thhe 6 by 9's, and figured the single 10" in a powered box would be ideal. Thank you. I am also a disabled veteran on a budget, so it would save me some money too. |

I had a Chevy S10 with 2-12" in a box with an old school amp that would cause heart palpitations, butmthose days are long gone, lol.

Just finished up a system in my wife's Yaris with a powered single 10 inch sub. Sounds wonderful and it's also easy to remove. Build thread -Scott |

If you stop to think about it, even high end home theater's only use one sub. The human ear cannot detect stereo in the frequencies that subs work in so the only advantage to two is more volume, or sound pressures (db). One should be fine for normal or higher sound levels.

Of course using one sub is OK. It's what millions of people have been running for decades.
