Hatch back Lift Arm Replacement?
Good morning guys, any suggestions on good sources for hatch back lift arm replacement? The O.E.M.'s on my 08 with 97k miles have failed. I picked some up from NAPA, but they were worse than the O.E.M.'s that failed. I haven't checked with the dealer yet, was just wondering if there was a good affordable alternative. Thanks very much.

I never seem to have much luck searching forums. Just called the dealer, $147 each...

Search for "spring shocks". There are a couple threads on here with aftermarket options that are around $30 each.

Can you give a comment on how the install went? Mine aren't gone but are going. I looked at them and was a little puzzled about what has to be done to change them out.
Thanks!

With a small blade flat screw driver, you lift out the little clip on the ends of the strut. The strut then pulls away from the little ball on the body mounts.

To install the new arms, simply push the socket onto the ball. I greased the ball slightly.

And then the little clip has to be re installed? That looks fiddley.

No. New struts come with new clips. They will already be in place on the strut ends. Simply 'snap' the strut into place over the mounting ball. When removing old struts, the retaining clip doesn't have to be completely removed. With your screwdriver, you pry the clip back far enough to release it's hold on the ball. Very simple. These arms work great, we shall see how long they last....
