New Tire Recommendations

Hello all,

It has been a while since I checked the forums and I'm really glad to be back .

I got some used tires a while back, but I did not do my research and got some crappy tires. I'm looking to finally buy a new set of four preferably from tirerack or another trusted website. I am also looking for a decent set of all-season tires for a low price. I know I should get dedicated winter and summer tires, but my university tuition is killing my pockets.

If you have experienced a tire during winter and summer could you say how you feel about them?

What size are you looking for?

General Altimax RT43 A/S H rated tires . These do very well for all weather conditions . They did well during the winter . Not as good as a dedicated snow . Gas mileage is not impacted all that much . Keep these at 35 p.s.i.. See the reviews for the RT43 at Tire Rack . There's also a $70 rebate for the RT43 at the General tire website . If you have the 185/60-15s' they could possibly be purchased for $50 each with the rebate .

+1 for the RT43's. Excellent tire. I've put about 10k on a new set I got for cheap on tire rack.

+1 for the General Altimax RT43. I had a set on my 2010 Corolla in DC this past winter and they are awesome tires in the snow, rain and dry condition. Relatively inexpensive and don't harm fuel economy too much. Max PSI is 51psi.

Very comfortable, very quiet. Best tires I've had, honestly. Made in the USA is a plus too. I recommend tirebuyer.com - great service, fast shipping, and usually free shipping to a local installer.

I sold my 2010 Corolla a few months ago and picked up a '07 Yaris, which needs new tires some time soon.

The 43s' also soak up the imperfections of the road and are quiet for now . Here's a new tank of gas with them . They're wearing nicely too . Wish we had the '08 sedan to put these on .

The General Tire RT43 are great tires. They're also cheaper compared to competitors and can be purchased from Discount Tires online.

It helps to know weather/temps in your area to suggest tires. For example around here the Kumho 4X is great as we get a lot of rain, and little of winter conditions.

Falkin Ziex ZE950's vs. General Altimax RT43 v in 195/55/R15. Any thoughts? Which is better on the Yaris 3 door. Thx. So Cal weather.

Both are good all season tires, but the Altimax RT43 is the favorite choice.
