Remote Start Keyless Entry Unlock Not Working

I noticed that after I remote started my car (With a Viper 5806v), the unlock button on my remote would no longer work. I guess that's a security implementation by Toyota for some reason or another.

Most guides I've found seem to hook up to just the key cylinder for alarm and remote start systems. This results in keyless entry being disabled when the engine is running due to a remote start.

When the car is off and locked, the unlock button on the door no longer works while the key cylinder does. When the engine is running, the unlock button on the door works, but the key cylinder no longer works.

Just tie the two wires together to the alarm and be done right? Well that results in a double door unlock pulse when the car is off, since the key cylinder unlock enables the door unlock button, which will also get activated by the same unlock pulse (resulting in all the doors getting unlocked). Not what we want if you're one of those who likes your single press unlock to just unlock the driver's side.

Here's the fix I made to get around this. Diode isolate both unlock wires, and tie the door unlock so it only works when the car is on. (We hook into the window voltage source, since it's only on when the car is on)

I guess the only downside is that all the doors get unlocked when you unlock with the car started.

The wires are located in the driver's kick panel. In my 2008 Yaris sedan, the wire colors are the following:

Lower Connector
Green - Key Cylinder Unlock
Orange - Door Unlock Button

Upper Connector
Grey - Window? 12v Source

A 2N4401 (Or equivalent) transistor is used to make a digital switch, which enables the alarm system to pulse the door unlock wire when the car is on.
