Amp with Stock Head?

I am thinking about adding a sub and replacing the speakers but i don't want to add an aftermarket head, Is it possible to amp the stock head? would splitting from the current speaker wires to the amp then back to the speakers work? I have a sony head unit but all the kits available in canada for the dash look like crap.

you can use a line out to power the subs but to power the component speakers you cant unless you run the signal to the amp and then back to the speakers and you should use an amp for the subs and one for the speakers if you do that just amp the subs useing a line out and replace the speakers it will sound good but not as good as amped speakers with a aftermarket head unit

How did you guys took the wires from the head unit to the amp and then to the speakers. I am thinking of adding 4 new speakers and a sub with an amp to the stock head unit, since I have a TS and don't want to replace the HU.
