Display size
we had this one time in o/t section where everyone said what size there screens were.
I'm bringing this concern up over here before it ruins a thread about a members boosted s2000. anyways. I'd just like to say I have a 22" (horizontal ) screen I never figured out how to set up the display size correctly.what I'm trying to say is this: my screen for Yarisworld is cut off I get the upper task bar over to search and then I have to scroll over. hope that makes sense. is this an error on my part or YW? |

you should be able to increase your screen resolution and see the whole thing. I can change my monitor settings and duplicate what you see.
Mine is currently set to 1280 x 800

refresh rates I don't know much about. Is that a function of the graphics card or the monitor itself?

I thought it was the processor for the Tv (in this case at least I'm using a tv as the display)
I think the graphics card for the refresh rate of a monitor....but at any rate the card is refreshing the tv @ 75hz max on this display....I guess it's ok. so bottom line is my display settings were out of whack not the websites hehe... |

I run a 22' monitor and keep mine at 1680x1050 refresh rate 60 hertz and I can see everything on every web site in correct symetry. Refresh rates are how often your graphics card or MB onboard graphics device sends a new signal your the pixels in your monitor. Refresh rates effect different monitors differently depending on the image latentcy (how long a pixel stays visable after it has been sent) Generally speaking the higher the refresh rate the better the image.

@Shroomster: Please post the monitor model and I'll try to see if I can find some information on it. AFAIK you shouldn't set your refresh rate to anything higher than 60Hz if it's an LCD.

I should have said that TK, thank you.
These days if your computer recognizes your monitor, plug and play will usually block damaging refresh rates, but I don't know what it will do with a tv. Last edited by Bob Dog; 09-23-2009 at 12:51 PM. |

It's quite possible you will be able to get other possible resolutions if you set the refresh rate to 60Hz. LCD doesn't refresh the way old CRTs do. See http://bit.ly/Hq4Sg for more info

Yeah, set the refresh rate 60 and see what resolutions show up on the dropdown menu it might not work, but its a very good bet. If it doesn't work you might want to go to microsoft and poke around for a driver that will be updated and more suitable, depending on the age of your software and equipment.

well I updated my graphics driver (never updated it for 6 years). I have a plethora of usable screen sizes now. I think I'm going to stick with 1280x720 with 32 bit color @ 60 hz
everything shows up and no horizontal slide-bar anymore. thanks for the clarifications and help! |
