making the 3dr hatch ride on rails?
got a yaris and want to do alot of suspension upgrades to improve tightness around corners. i already have the tein basics on order....so my question is are there any other performance bars? or anything out to stiffen the chasis?
example... front/rear strut bars.....front/rear sway.....tension rod bar.....lower arm bar..... |

your best bet is going to be shocks and currently TRD is the only ones out there, ive contacted kyb for some gr2's with no luck.....
next id try a front strut bar, it tightened up my steering..... next try a rear sway bar, some say it does nothing because of the solid rear axle.....but i personally dont know..... there are some tie bars available for rear, middle and front....you may want to check those out as well..... go for some 225/50/16's and I think you woulod be good to go..... do a search and you will find everything i mentioned........

Coilovers are all you will need . The Yaris LB comes with a front upper strut tower brace ,STOCK (sure its thin and ugly , but highly effective). Unless you get a warm fuzzy feeling by having a TRD rear sway , you won't need it either . Unless you are a porn star , stiffer isn't always better . As far a tires go get 205 with 16's or get 195 with 15's . you will be happy . Personally I use Michelin Pilot Exalto II 195/55/15 for street and rain duty . Hoosiers205/45/16 for dry conditions . I use the stock Goodyears for rain/snow/hunting season .
Check this out . This me with my Michelins with TRD/TEINS . Notice I am right on that guy . He wasn't lolligaggin' either . Also notice the 2 350 Z's waaaay in the background . The Z's and I started at the same time . This pic was taken about halfway through the course . All you need for the Yaris is as follows . 1. Coilovers 2. Are you sure about that? I didn't see anything of the like when I installed my CAI today and pointed to the strut tower to the guys at Weapon R and said "Do you think you can get an upper strut tie bar in there?" and they looked and said "it's very tight, I don't know how you would be able to attach it?" Let me know. The Tein project Yaris in Siphon does NOT run one. ALSO: Be careful when MFG's claim their base coil-overs are ride height adjustable... because many are NOT! Many use PRE-LOAD as their means of adjusting ride height. So, the stiffer the spring, the lower the car... but this is RIDE HEIGHT as a FUNCTION of PRE-LOAD, not a TRUE ride height adjustment. The MEGAN RACING coilovers are the only one's I've see besides the expensive TEINS that offer an independent ride height adjustment. So, just read throughly!

There aint no upper strut bar in mine, there is a front sway bar yes but there is no tower bar or rear sway on the car STOCK
There are some options for upper strut bars, Tanabe appears to be the most affordable, Cuso lower tie and the TRD Rear Sway appears to be all we have for now, Progress is coming along very slow go to wesellcarparts.com between them and bulletproofauotomotive you should be able to find everything you need suspension wise for this car, they are both vendors here

If you take off that plastic stuff (fresh air vent, windshield squirter) just under the front window , you will see the tower brace . If you look at the rear (closest to the firewall ) of the front strut tower , you will see it . Like I said , its thin and ugly , but works beautifully . Look at the 1 in Siphon mag and you will see it also . It DOESN'T connect to the top of the strut tower , but the top rear , near the firewall . It is a brace integrated into the body . NOT A BAR .

Teins are very hard to beat . I have used them on 7 different cars . I never had a problem . I'm just waiting for some SS , or Flex , or some RA's to come out . Something I can use the EDFC with . Like the car in Siphon mag ( BASTARD :) ) The reason I didn't get the Tein Basics were b/c you can't adjust the dampening or rebound . Don't get me wrong , the Basics will work good for street and light competition .

exactly what I will use them for, driving to and from work mostly, but I don't like just the 2. inch drop I have I'd like to be about 2.5 maybe 3 in the rear
I think the Megan will be pretty stiff but they have a nice looking finish and appear to be of very good quality, I'm kinda hangin' on for some Megan feedback from vanderkitten and colint everyone with the teins sounds very pleased

On the track, the Megan's kicked ass. With a tool-box, air tank, 4 wheels and tires, small floor jack, water and clothes for the day, the ride to the track was awesome!! =) Yeah, it took a ton of extra weight, but man, it was a pleasure to drive up there.
There is no roll at max cornering with DOT-R tires, and my thought is the front needs some flex so the drive whee l doesn't get picked up and spin during hard cornering. Anyhow, after 1400 miles, the shocks have come into being and are great. I just need to slow down on the crappy roads in Nor Cal. Next mods: 25mm wheels spacers for my 15" wheels (they have some ungodly +47mm offset and sit WAY inside the body line... but they were cheap... right?) to move them outward, slotted and drilled front rotors, brake lines and Motul RBF600 fluid.

Well, I agree with HTM here. I have my Tein Basics on the way and I am thinking nothing further is going to be needed with this coilover set up. I have deleted the strut bar, sway and tie bar from my list of things to buy because I think the real difference is in the coil overs.

How does a sway bar get stiffer??????? (not that stiffer is needed) only way is larger diameter, or change the distance/length between attachment points....research.

I think they mean more tension is added which means mroe pressure on the brace/bracket/bar/whatever.....
