Hello good people, brand new here. haven't even picked up my yaris yet, I get it thursday.

quick background: was the I.C.E. moderator at 7thgencivic.com for years, kinda disappeared from the audio world, but im back

Has anyone tried putting 8's in the rear speaker mounting location of the 3 door?

I think I remember reading about someone doing that. Or at least talking about doing that. I put in some 6x9 but it's nothing like a professional install. It's my own custom work though :)

Looks possible, but probably need to find a way to support it and sound deaden behind because the sheetmetal on these cars are THIN!

there would definitely be some reinforcement, and either a sealed enclosure or the sealing off of the whole panel for an IB environment.

I put these in the rear deck of my sedan. Shouldn't be too difficult to modify to make them fit in the LB. Supposedly they have the same footprint of a 8" sub while utilizing the size of a 6x9. Although they are a bit larger than 6x9. Typical 6x9 opening requires a adapter plate for Toyota. Without the adapter plate this just barely fits in the opening with no clearance.

Expect horrible rattle afterwards though unless you dynomat the entire surrounding area.

The Image Dynamics ID8 should work well in that environment...

SQCOMP, I've actually got a pair of brand new peerless SLS 8's from an old project that never got finished.

In addition, the ID8 would limit me to 100-110 hz, where the SLS would allow me to go up higher. I'm gonna try to see how high I can run them without pulling the stage too far back. 150 - 200 hz maybe.

I'll be running the stock deck into a PPI DCX-730 processor I've got in a box somewhere. My line of work has me parking in questionable neighborhoods late at night so this will definitely be a stealth daily driver install.
