What that front cover/storage for?

Hello, my front cover just below the steering wheel doesn't close all the way and I was wondering if you guys knew the cause for it and a fix? Maybe replacing that cover. Just in case you guys didn't know what I was talking about I've have a link to the pictures.

Thanks in advance.

^error with the photo. You may want to check to see if a screw is missing - it shouldn't be ajar exposing the wires.

Either something inside the basket is jamming it or the wires behind it are bunched up. Remove the basket and reinstall it

Ok I fixed the link; this has been driving me nuts for awhile. No there is no wire coming in or out of it. My guess is that the last owner abused the hell out of it. I don't even know what that basket or whatever it is for? Does anyone know the name of the part#? Thanks.

On the sides of it there are these little bulges that keep it shut, I put a bite of duct tape on them and it stays shut. It used to fall out all the time for me.

There is actually supposed to be a small metal clip attached to top of the opening. They are easy to lose.

I though there was a separate part number for the clip, but I am not seeing one is the parts catalog.

Also check the bottom of the cubby. It is easy to bend the hinge part when snapping the cubby back on if they are bent then it sits higher than it should.

Wallet? Perfect size for one. Mine has an ID badge to let me into ...some building, a tire gauge, a pen, and a packet of tissues.

I just use my side cubby as coin change holder for food drive-thru.

Great place for a wallet on long trips.

...and yes the stupid little metal clip comes off every once in a while.

I've used mine for lots of different things, including storing sunglasses. Currently, I use it to store paper clips.
