Driven: 2015 Honda Fit

For those that are interested, here's our bit on the 2015 Honda Fit from the launch in San Diego a couple weeks ago.

http://www.subcompactculture.com/201...honda-fit.html

We actually snagged a pic or two next to a 2014 Yaris SE, as well. I'll try to post those up tonight.

Very nice review as usual. I have to admit that I'm really liking this car. Particularly the 6MT variant.

Thorough review. The sheet metal looks so much better than the previous model! The base LX is surprisingly well equipped for a very reasonable price.

Very good review . Did you notice the overall gas mileage ? We're likely to let the Yaris sedan go and get another FIT base . It's a '13 with the 5 speed auto . It seems quieter than the '11 . We'll follow the '15 FIT for a year or so to see how that does . Honda is also bringing the small C.U.V. hybrid the VEZEL ( probably renamed for us ) and there's talk of a FIT sedan ( City ) maybe late year or 2015 . That we'd really be interested in , will miss the '08 sedan . Also test drove a '14 Civic LX with the C.V.T. , really like that . The display showed 32.4 m.p.g. when we got back to the dealer . Mostly city and a run on a state road with 55 m.p.h. limit . Coasts with the greatest of ease . The dash and interior are tight and sturdy . Didn't hear one rattle , went on a few poor streets . Didn't want to get above $250 for a monthly payment .

I'll have to ask my wife, Mercedes, as she's the one who attended the event and wrote the article. I am looking forward to the Vezel, which will be renamed HR-V. Funny thing is the HR-V name has been around for a while.

Nice review.

Gas mileage is much better which was the last Fit's biggest downfall. I am pleasantly surprised at the power output as well 130 hp is quite a bit of power in a sub-compact although these levels are becoming more common in the class. The Yaris's 106 is really starting to look inadequate. The next Mazda built "Yaris" will be expected to get a boost.

This car looks to keep Honda at the head of the class.

The greatest degree of specificity re a release/delivery date for the 2015 Fit...that I can find....is 'LATE Spring' of this year. I can't find any release date info re the 2015 Yaris. Same as the 2014 (just different year)? I came across some pictures of the 2015 Yaris, and they were very similar to pics other members havew already posted.

Wow. So much for late spring. We're not even a third of the way through spring yet.

Earlier this week I did a search for the 2015 Fit for the entire country using the cars.com 'engine' link roxy1 provided on a past thread. There were some already for sale, but only 5 for the entire U.S. (with 2 of those at the same dealership in Austin, TX).

I just did the same search again.......and there are now 1,073 rather than 5 Model Year 2015 Fits available nationwide.

The most expensive one is $21,851.00 USD, and 121 of the 1,073 are listed as 'NOT PRICED'.

P.S. (before clicking on Year...revealing which boxes to check or uncheck re years to display as new.....the total was a bit over 3,500.....so there are still about 2,400 new 2013 Fits on dealer lots throughout the U.S.)

i thought the epa numbers would actually be higher.

32/38 mpg for EX and EX-L models (cvt)
33/41 mpg for LX model (cvt)
29/37 for the 6 speed manual

this gen fit just brings them up to par with others in the class.

I could guess they wont stock that many of the LX models. like many other manufacturers, one of its primary purposes is to allow advertising of the highest epa numbers.

hopefully, the next gen yaris will have a 6 speed manual and will do better than 29/37......a good guess since the current yaris manual with a 150 year old engine is rated 30/37.

Those of us who try at least a bit to get better gas mileage can probably do better than EPA re the 2015 Fit. Hershey can wring 40 out of his new 2013 Fit that isn't as much of a gas sipper as the 2015 Fit (at least ratings wise).
