Anyone heard of the US 08 2seat Aygo???

I don't know if it's actually coming out but there is a Thread on Edmunds on a 2008 Toyota Aygo that looks like a cross between a Fortwo and a Yaris...

If for some reason it gets 45-50MPG will you buy it for 9grand and go play sports with it? (I'm thinking of getting it and rebadge it Yaris "mini" )

Not coming to the US. I emailed Toyota Corporate to ask them about it 2 or 3 months back, and they gave a firm negative. I actually posted the response on Yarisworld somewhere....

Yeah I fell in love with this car and still am...it was rumored they would bring it over here but that would be a tight fit as it would slot just below the Yaris hatch but would have to more basic! So that would push the Yaris hatch and sedan up in price, maybe not by much but still. Also I think it will canabolize Yaris hatch sales even if its smaller. Although they are from what I read revealing the restyled version at this years Tokoyo auto show I believe in October but I guess we'll have to wait and see. There was an article where someone spotted Toyota testing a Citron' (Aygo twin) near Toyota's Ann Arbor testing facilities in Michigan so who knows! It was belived that Toyota wants to compete with the Smart that is coming over here. If Toyota doesn't bring over the Aygo or a variation of it next year they might wait and see how the Smart is recieved in the U.S. (Which I believe it will be big as gas prices go up and its a chic car-not that that's bad) then bring over the next gen Aygo probably the 2010 model (estimate).

^^^^ Bringing this back to life:

Well as for the Smart in the USA, I always see 1 everyday here in Las Vegas and they actually have different plate #s and colors too. So I guess that SMART 4-2 is popular here in Vegas as a city car.

TOYOTA PLEASE BRING THE AYGO in 1.3L stick in the US and also please keep the Yaris LB in production!

I'd be all over an Aygo.

I'd be interested in the Smart, but thus far there's only one dealer scheduled to carry it in all of Georgia. As cool as it'd be, I'm not about to tie myself down like that... think of the servicing nightmares that could arise! And it's a MB dealership to boot, so you know everything would cost a fortune. If Toyota offered the Aygo, you'd have service centers available everywhere. I'd be much more willing to stick my neck out, then.

I love the looks of this car, but I don't think I'd be too thrilled driving something with a smaller motor than the Yaris.
