Negotiations for Sedan S

Hi, I'm gonna buy the Sedan S 2009 model with a power package with Black Sand Pearl in two weeks. I wanted to know if 14000 is a good price to negotiate with the dealer(THE MSRP is 16500). I am a recent college graduate(can use the 1000 dollar off deal by Toyota to bring it down to 15500) and just got a job that i've been working for two months now but have bad credit. But plan to put 5000 dollars down w/o trading in any car.

Would say thats a price i'd be able to negotiate them with? Suggestions?

I got a an 09 Yaris S sedan in Flint Mica on July 24. MSRP was $16840 and I talked them down to $15475. I put about the same amount down ($4500 with the CARS program) Have the salesman send you a dealer invoice so you can know the invoice price of the car. You generally want to negotiate near that price. Good luck and hope to see you more on the forum.

Do you guys really think that the "invoice" on a car has anything to do with how much the dealership paid out of pocket? LOL

Its only there to give people a sense of "I saved a lot".
MSRP is the suggested retail price of an item. Clothing can have a MSRP at about a 600% profit.

As for a car, they didn't pay that much else they wouldnt be in business/be able to pay their staff.

Aiming for the invoice price is the way to go, for example my parents are buying a new crv, and we are getting it very close to invoice, but they wont budge any further.

I think you misunderstood me. I was referring to the dealer invoice that lists the invoice price of the vehicle and various options as well as the sticker price.

I see guys. As it turns out...I actually decided to purchase a 2010 Black Scion TC Coupe considering that i don't think i would've been happy with the Yaris for a few years considering im 23 and tend to like couple looking cars more. I still will be part of the forum tho :)

I had to pay 15,100 for my fully loaded LB 3dr......14k for an S-sedan would be a great deal! I dont think they will bite on that though, maybe like mid 15's.

My 08 LB was $14k loaded to with A/T and full power. The only S I could track down (an 08 Sedan) was like $16,800! It had the elusive ABS and the side airbags......
