District 9

Anyone else see this movie?

It's a really, well done movie. I'm sick of alien invasion movies, but this one sets itself apart from all the rest. Go watch it, keeps you thinking even after you walk out from the movies.

Btw, couldn't find if this was posted already through "search"....

the trailers don't do it justice then?

All I see is "Cloverfield" with "Men In Black" and "Independence Day"

for once it was actually one of those good ideas done the right way. you know, cloverfield for example. could have been awesome. done terribly wrong. this movie on the other hand was pretty good. i plan on seeing it a second time with some buddies from work.

It's built up in the trailers as an action movie, but there's more drama to it than you would think. There IS action to it, but it's not the entire theme.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. The fact that they chose Johannesburg as the city where the aliens arrive is very fitting.

well at first i wasnt too interested in the movie cause the trailer kinda pitched a retarded story imo. Then i learned that they were trying to promote the movie in a strange way such as cloverfield.. Marketing techniques to say. So I gave it a try. and Whadya know, its badass =). Great storyline with drama, action, cuteness, funny stuff too. Of course it does give you a flipside of feelings. In turn you hate humans and say GO PRAWNS!

Not sure if I'll get to go see it, but I have heard very good things about it. I agree, the ads might be off-putting, but that would make seeing a truly good film all the more rewarding.

Forget the trailers/Commercials/ ads, they do no justice to what the whole movie is about. Simply go watch, its like a documentary POV but in a very good way...

This movie is def. a buy for me on DVD :)
Also i like how the guy says f*ck A LOT in the movie in his accent LOL

I believe he's Dutch. So it's probably an Afrikaaner accent.

Christopher Johnson said he would be back in 3 years....So I don't see why they won't make a sequel.

Did you know the actor doing the main character was doing his first movie?

Blomkamp's (the writer/creator) childhood friend... AMAZING performance.

Blomkamp's first feature film too.
(this was based on a short he did, Peter Jackson picked it up when the Halo movie sputtered)

I know I butchered his name, sorry

dam straight.. Might take 4 years to make it.. or 3 years if they wanna plan it right =p

and yes.. it was his first movie, and most of his script was heavily improvised if not all. He proves to be a great actor that is hopefully used in much more movies soon. And due to the success of this film, I wouldn't throw down the possibility of a green light for Halo again in the near future for fans.(when i mean future though.. i mean future)
