4AGZE Modification

Alright, here's the deal... I want to drop Toyota's 4AGZE engine into my Yaris. Does anybody have any idea how much different the mounts are? Also, some advice on a gearbox would be appreciated. I'm not too fussed about management etc because I'm going third party there. The only difficulty here is to get all the information to the heads up display. Will I have to change the dials from digital to analogue or is it possible to leave the sensors and what not where they are and just use the stock computer? I have a fair knowledge of programming, so if any is needed, with some research, time and patience, I can work it out. I just want to know where to start.

Completely different. No one here has done a swap with that engine. The only engine swapped into a Yaris is the 2ZZ....

I think that there has been someone in Greece that did a Toyota 3S-GTE too. Your best bet is to do a search in the forum for either motor swap or engine swap. With that search you will find a few threads that you should find very useful.

Thanks! I just got some info from another guy here in South Africa and he says that the 1ZZ-FE is probably the best way to go...

The 2ZRFE 1.8 would be a direct drop in. Comes in the Matrix, Corrola, xD & Vibe here in the states......

Yup...that would be a much better way to go most likely than the 1zz.

Why not just swap in a 2zz or 1zz? The mounting points are virtually the same as that of a 4ag (Requires a slight elongation of the holes for the motor mount on one of the sides...can't remember which right now). Newer motor that will build way more power than a 4ag ever will.

I saw one in a local magazine some time ago.... though they did change for a turbo setup rather than supercharged. No idea of how much fabrication was involved, though.

I think turboecho2005 did. He had to do quite a bit of frame modification to make that happen.

if you're goin that far, why not throw in a ls7 or ls9 in there??? tunnel the center for a driveshaft and use the corvett or porsche trans/diff in the rear....with independant suspension. it's feasible.

or, throw in the turbo mr-2 engine in there? or, throw in the b-20 honda engine.

Frame rail modification is required. I have a thread in the forced induction section. There should be a link to the build photos. Just drop in an ls9 motor and call it a day ;).

Or, how about what Renault did with their LeCar -> R5 and put the MR2 drivetrain in the back seat area. There was also a short run of "SHOgun" by some company: Yamaha V6 from the Taurus SHO into the back seat area of a Festiva.

2zz and 1zz require frame rails to be cut as the engine/transmission together is wider

would a 4agze still be a 4agze w/o the s/c? lol

a friend of mine has a s/c'd mr2 (subsequently a 4agze is in it). the s/c went kaput, so he turbo'd it. it already has the strong internals meant for boost, so its an ideal candidate to be turbo'd rather than supercharged...

main reason for going with the 4AGZE is the internals... here, it would put another 20 to 30000 onto the modifications... i can pick a 4AGZE up with the supercharger for 7500... i will turbo it later so instead of spending 60000 to turbo, i'm only looking at 25000 to 30000....
