hertz audio setup question

Thinking of biting the bullet and buying a full set of hertz audio hsk 165xl speakers for my 2013....but I don't know where to mount the rear tweeters. Are the b pillars an acceptable place for them? Placing car audio components has never been my strong point....lol


Also, whats the depth acceptance on speakers for the yarii?

Where are you in PDX (I'm in Sherwood)? I'm running Audison Voce coaxials until I decide what I want to do with the system in mine.

Audison/Hertz...essentially the same company. There's lots to consider when setting up for sound.

Standard advise is avoid component speakers in the rear for SQ (sound quality) reasons: you only really need a pair of solid comps in the front. If you really want to have comps in the rear: I would place tweeters as close as possible to the rear woofers.Rear pillars might be an option.

hertz hks - decent stuff.. there are similar quality speakers available locally though

That being said, I do agree with the idea of not having rear speakers, I don't and haven't for years. This is why a face to face is important. One needs to know the specific needs and wants of the individual before doing anything. There's too much to be lost in translation by playing armchair sound engineer from 500 miles away. If you don't get as specific as possible, your five P's go out the window.

Really! Mid level Pioneer compared to Hertz. Try something like these. Out of these three, the Hybrid would be the best choice for the money.

If I went with full comps, I was thinking of putting the rear tweeters in the B pillars right above the seat belt's top mount to move them closer to the front to increase the feeling of being in the center of the music, but I'm sure I'm way off in my thought process on that.

The only reason I had planned on Hertz speakers is I had helped do an install of two on a friends S2K, and just those two alone was by far the best sounding set of speakers I had heard in person in a long time. I currently have alpine S types (which I've had for years) and they are dying.

Buying speakers is hard IMO, as sound is subjective per each individual. I listen to almost everything, but mainly delve into the electronic genre and most aspects of metal. heavy / melodic death / folk, etc., so the more responsive and crisp, the happier I am :) sounds can get very...fast paced. lol

I've never thought about skipping rear speakers, why would you do that? Do they really not add much for overall sound? My knowledge in sound systems is unfortunately very basic, so prepare yourself for a lot of boring questions when we get to meet up lol. I like to learn :p

Go with what YOUR ears tell you.

Our experiences are much different that yours. This is exactly why I want to put you in front of speakers versus, like the others here, trusting in blind faith to buy offline.

Let's get you in front of speakers. I'll go with you at some point if you'd like since we're so close. I can take you to the most expensive shops (Kingpin, AvinCar, The Sound Choice) down to the dregs of audio (Outrageous Audio) and everywhere in between in the PDX area. We have the ability to hear all of the speakers mentioned in this thread, plus some you've never heard of.

I know all of the shops, I know the owners for the most part. I'll tell you if what you're receiving is a good deal or not.

The bottom line is that I want the sound YOU are seeking. Mind you, this might mean more than just some speakers. With that being said, it's a start.

As for front stage only speakers, the reasoning is that you're listening to a concert in front of you. You're not up on the stage. you're down in front like it was meant to be heard. Rear fill (what is being referred to) is good at low levels for raising the sound stage up front...but in my experience, if you need to raise the stage by using rear speakers...there is something wrong with your front stage layout.
