You could say I went about it backwards I suppose, without having the engine bay SSK installed first. I was more concerned with the sloppy/vague feeling of the shifter rather then the shortness of the throws. I guess compared to my truck, the Yaris feels short already, heh. Either way, I'm really pleased with how it is now, just getting rid of all the slop from the stock setup makes a world of difference.

But I guess I should get off my ass and order up the first kit. Considering the cost, it's worth a go.

I bought the engine bay module and installed it in (quite literally) under 60 seconds, without rushing, lol. The first week or so it felt weird, however when I got used to how it shifts with it in, I would never ever go back to shifting without it.

My cousin was surprised and bit upset when we installed it lol
he spent more money on a short shifter for his Lancer but all it did was lower where the shifter is not really shorten the throw , when he tried mine he was hoping they made one for his car like the NST SSK but when i said no he was

What, if any, is the benefit to using both these kits together? I'm already using the engine bay one, but am thinking of adding the in-cabin as well. Will I feel any difference?

And yes, you would notice a difference with both installed.

I installed both NST SSKs (in cabin and engine bay) and am loving them both! Installation was quick and painless and the feel is amazing. Of course, now I have my sights set on the cage and linkage bushings, but I have to ask: will there be a notable difference in feel and/or performance by installing the cage and linkage bushings?

I have the NST SSK engine bay one, and got the two shifter cable linkage bushings a few months ago. After driving with the engine SSK it didn't feel as firm as it use to, but after putting the shift cable bushings it feels alot firmer again. So yes it does make it feel better.

i have a yaris seddan 2008 and i've read like a warning for the nst ssk engine bay one that says:

NOTE: Toyota sourced linkage from two sources from 2008 on. This shifter kit may not fit some 2008-09 models. If it doesn't fit your car, we recommend the SSK-2 in-cabin short shift kit instead.

it's true? how can i know if it fits or not?

You shouldn't have a problem getting it in there. It needs to fit just right (not too tight or too loose). The only way you can figure that out is by trying.

Well this weekend I installed the engine bay kit and I was only able to get the pin that you guys supply with the kit. I could not get the OEM pin on. Either way I installed it and amazed what a difference it made together with the 3" extension.

I also installed one of the cable bushings(the one that goes on top of the SSK). The problem with the smaller bushing is that I could not remove it from the OEM piece. I tried to pry it out like I did with the other but no luck. It looks like I would have to cut the rubber bushing out to install the new one. I do have an 09' liftback.
