ITB swap

Hi, i'm new in here and i own a vitz rs with the 2nz engine. I am consiedering in purchaseing an itb to keep it n/a. I already have some mods in the engine such as a custom made 4-2-1 exhaust manifold, lightened flywheel, ported cylinder head and a very good custom made induction kit.

The thing is that i don't know from where to begin! Do i need to change the camshafts? What ecu or piggy bag do i need and what is the best ITB to be fitted on?

I was considering in buying the Honda CBR600 ITBS or the 4age ITBS and someone told me that with an Apexi afc neo i could work without buyin a stand alone ecu... Is it true?

Cheers

Well....There isn't a ton of info out there. It's good that you are in Malta, since the only once I've ever seen this successfully done on is in Greece. I don't speak Greek, but here is their website....www.yarisclub.gr

Keep us posted! Do you have dyno numbers with your mods? Who made your header? Thanks, and welcome!

I would expect going IRTB on a Yaris to be disappointing under most circumstances.

You gain:
Throttle response
Top end power
Cool intake noise

You lose:
Low-mid range torque
Effortless daily driving

I've not seen it done on a Yaris, but I've seen a few Miatas with IRTBs, and unless you're just drag racing or doing it for the cool factor... it doesn't seem worth it.

Honestly, I'd skip the IRTB and just go with custom engine management so that you can tune the engine to make better use of the mods that you already have. You might get better peak HP with the IRTB setup, but I'd bet on even the stock intake to provide a fatter torque curve throughout the rev range. As the wise old-school racers say: "It's the area under the curve that counts."

Throttle bodies 38mm from CBR600, stand alone ecu and 4-2-1 custom header and the result is 145whp !!!
145 is pretty good, but remember that's on a TS.

Note: requires standalone ECU. That is a BIG project.

Sexy though!

What post are you talking about? I am talking about the link in post #4 that is about the only know user running ITB's that has posted on YarisWorld... Did YOU read? SO why does the fact that he has a TS matter? The OP of this thread has a RS not TS. Also the 2NZ is smaller...

The older TS is a 1.5. 145whp is good.

Not in the Echo I guess. If you look at the link that was posted about it says he is running the 1NZ with ITB, standalone, and custom 4-2-1 header and making 145hp.

1nz or 2nz its the same intake manifold setup....the only difference is the piston travel for the 0.2L difference

just buy a greddy supercharger for an xb/echo

The header was made here in Malta by ZISCO.. He took the exact measurments etc... Well regarding the itbs i would like to know wether kekropas did fit them on standard cams or not!!? I think that it would be a great mod since at the moment i've only got the 4-2-1 header and a good induction kit!!.. I just drag raced a yaris turbo and his time was 16.3sec and mine was 16.7sec:) Btw this is my baby vitz...

The custom made air duct...

At the Malta Drag Race Track...
