Video: My MTB group's ride this week
I tried out my new helmet cam (which has been on my wish list for years) on this Tuesday's ride with my mountain biking group. The initial climb was challenging and a bit intimidating but the downhill was a pair of easy, fast (I was going over 20 MPH much of the time) singletrack trails that I've never ridden before.

I know what you meant, tomato.
 These two trails are just barely at the intermediate level, though. I only recall thinking "Whoa!" twice during the entire ride. Next week I'll create a video of a solid intermediate trail. You'll be able to tell the difference. (I tried to record said solid intermediate trail yesterday but the morning light shows my shadow with the camera on top of my helmet, plus it was hard for both the camera and I to see well due to all of the low angle light filtering through the trees in splotches. I'll need to ride/record it on an afternoon instead.)

Here's a story from the latest video, where you see my rear tire in trouble: So the valve stem of my rear tube had separated from the tube, leaving it ruined. I installed my spare tube only to find its valve pin sheared off and hiding inside the head of my pump when I tried to fill it.  Part of the strength of riding with a group is that someone is always nearby. I was able to bum a tube from a buddy and get back on the trail. Because of this incident I now carry two spare tubes in addition to a patch kit.

Definitely sounds fun...and adventurous, too adventurous for this old man; maybe 20 years ago...if I could have ever learned to find the right gear on my bicycle
 I better stick to stationary bikes
