Is this a job that can be done at home?
I have no problem doing mods like this myself, I did everything on my SS and GTO but do not have a spring compressor, is it required or just easier to goto the dealer?

every time you modify suspension it needs an alignment.

Front end alignment is crucial if you dont want odd tire wear. I didnt align an S-10 I dropped and the outside of my tires wore down cause the front end wasnt aligned. Trust me paying$40 to have it done is worth not paying for brand new tires. PLus you drive alot straighter if thats a word.
As for the spring compressors a friend of mine was too lazy to go to Autozone so he took a chain and a padlock and wrapped the chain in the spring and put the padlock on it and the spring let out and he threw it away padlocked. DO NOT DO THIS HE WAS A MORON |
