I've never stopped using my AOL email address. In fact, I have two of them. LtNoogie was my first ever screenname from waayyy back when AOL was new and I was afraid to use my real name. Back when if you weren't careful, you AOL bill could be $60 in a month.

Does anyone remember using dialup BBS's? The kind where you had to upload some files so that you had the right to download cool files.

14,400kbs, zmodem, xmodem, ymodem...FTW!

After years of searching, I was able to download to my old Motorola phone a ringtone that stops people in their tracks. It went something like... wee uuuu wehhh uuuu wang wang wang ... the old modem connect tones. People would be going WTF? Who's dialing out on their cellphone?

I remember back in '99 when I used to own a Mac there used to be this app called MacPPP. It used to connect me to web for free using a short-lived ISP called FreeI. It was pretty much a competitor for NetZero when it was still free. The times change so quickly. Now we just sit back and play some Pong while waiting for Time-Warner to back-stab AOL...

So no one was ever into to telneting into a collage to get the info you needed. I remember it tacking a few hours to get a file that would fit on a floppy.

I only had AOL on one computer and it was becouse I needed the net at a new house before I had time to get something set up. You could set up AOL at 1 in the morning.

Did anyone have to learn there ABC’s in binary? One of the classes I had in collage had us learn it and the teacher thought it was going to be useful one day.
