Anyways, i get pulled aside and they search for the ham and tell me all about pig viruses and how they "are going to spread."

Once the H1N1 virus hit, those words hit like a ton of bricks. I was pissed because they look some 100 bucks of meat and just threw it in the garbage. which was also strange because couldn't some animal eat that at the dump? i told the customs guards we should just break out some bread and have lunch instead of wasting all that good meat.

Best objection to such a conspiracy was that the Soviets would have found out and would have made it public.

Dude..... Apollo 13 never landed. No moon rocks.

Most of the evidence was burned up on re-entry. They were coming in pretty "hot" from the emergency orbit around the Moon. Nothing left to salvage. As far as videos... they were scrapping for every watt of power.

"Realistic Conspiracies"...

CIA smuggled drugs into the US.

During the Indochina War French Intelligence services used heroin to help fund "black" projects. It's only logical that the US CIA followed suit. We know for a fact that the Agency used Mafiosi in Cuba and perhaps elsewhere in Latin America.

Put the two together and you get a possibility.

Why? The Agency was up until recently lead and mostly staffed by Ivy League Graduates. Why should they care about drug abuse going on in poor areas? It's not their people.

This has changed, I suppose as the Agency has widened it's employee and management base. Now they would be impacted and would not like it.

CIA stole the gold that the Japanese stole from throughout Asia.

US forces seized gold from the Japanese forces in the Philippines. Rumor is that the US government saved it for their own operations. One objection is that the CIA did not exist until 1948 but that the war ended in 1945.

911 was an "inside job".

I don't buy it. There were easier ways to get Americans to invade Afghanistan. Such as terrorists attacks over seas, which would have spared "collateral damage" in the US. A "Gulf of Tonkin" incident could have been engineered overseas with much less pain. Especially in New York City, which is a place with many connections to US Elites.

There was at least one US Intel group which had advanced knowledge of the attacks due to somewhat illegal data mining. Don't recall their names but the warning was not taken too seriously.

The Israeli Mossad also warned the US. As did German intelligence sources working from terrorist cells in Germany.

Lastly, the US had knowledge of a plot called "Operation Bojinka", which was cooked up by Ramsi Yousef and others in Al Qaeda. The idea being to use airliners as suicide bombs

We knew it could happen. We did not prevent it. Shame on us.

President Kennedy was assassinated as part of a Government Conspiracy or that his murder was a conspiracy covered up by the Government.

Lots of opinions about this one. Let's just say that the CIA had killed Trujillo, Diem and Lumumba before Kennedy died. They had skills and people. So did Organized Crime in the US, especially the Chicago mafia, the Florida Mafia and the "Combination" from Louisiana, all of whom were badgered mercilessly by Robert Kennedy.

One very interesting assassination occurred in 1932, when Chicago Mayor Anton J. Cermak was killed by a lone crazed gunman. He was in a car next to President Elect Franklyn Roosevelt. The gunman, a "crazed killer" name Guiseppe Zangara, suffered from chronic stomach pains that made him "hate everyone". He was quickly sentenced, first for assault and later for murder and was executed quickly.

Mob stories later came out that Zangara was a degenerate gambler who owed huge amounts of money to loansharks. Rather than be tortured horribly he opted to kill the Mayor and take his chances. Zangara was a former resident of Chicago before heading south to change his luck.

The "crazed lone gunman" was apparently a popular theme in political assassinations in Sicily.

So.... where does this leave us... a Marine with a poor shooting record, who learned officially Russian from the government while being a Marine, defected to the USSR after renouncing his citizenship, spent some time there, acquiring a wife, returned to the US without a hitch regaining his citizenship.

Became a "castro sympathizer" while remaining in employ of Jackson Stavers, a cartography company that made maps for the US government. Including appearing on a public radio debate with a known anti-castro activist.

One day while the President was visiting Dallas TX, a city whose Mayor was the brother of a man who had been fired by Kennedy for botching up the Bay of Pigs invasion, this same defector shoots Kennedy. Against the advice of his own security detail this President rode around without a transparent bubble top that might have protected him from gunshots. His route was also changed "at the last minute" to allow a nice slow turn close to the School Book Depository.

Rather than shoot the President "oncoming" or during the turn the assassin waited until the President was retreating and then took three shots on a moving target, all of which scored hits and one of which did things that have never before or since been seen. In a zone which was almost perfect for three shooters to engage the President from "different angles".

Three days later the shooter is in turn shot dead by a Strip Club Owner, who was a bagman for Al Capone, but who moved south to run his club. The man who shot Oswald later died of cancer in custody.

The resulting Warren Commission found "no evidence of a conspiracy" but ignored evidence of additional shooters. There was some evidence of witness tampering. The motive was to prevent a "nuclear war". The 1978 House Committee on Assassination found "evidence of a conspiracy", specifically a dictobelt recording that showed evidence of sounds of a fourth shot.

Some real Conspiracies....

The German General Staff in 1917 wished to end war on the Eastern Front. They negotiated to deliver Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov and some of his associates from their Swiss sanctuary through Europe in a sealed train. The train was transported through Germany, Poland, the Baltic States, Finland and thence into St. Petersburg.

The coup d'etat against the Socialist Revolutionary Government in Russia, which had promised to "keep on fighting" an unpopular war was short and sharp. Some persons on the ground in St. Petersburg complained of "agitators with German accents" agitating the crowds.

A failure of the SR Government to crush the coup because they could not get transport to send loyal troops to St. Petersburg lead to increased involvement by sailors on the "Aurora" to lend assistance to the Bolsheviks. These sailors helped the Coup plotters to seize the winter palace, ending Socialist Revolutionary Rule in St. Petersburg.

The resulting Civil War was bloody, joined on one side by Bolsheviks, Anarchists and other far left as well as ordinary people who followed the Bolshevik's slogan of "Peace, Bread and Freedom" and on the others by "counter revolutionaries" of many sorts. . Within a few years the Bolsheviks drove out or killed off most of their opposition and soon after killed off the Anarchist Sailors and guerrillas who had been so useful to them in starting the whole thing.

Later, at the Treaty of Brest Litovsk, the Bolsheviks signed a peace treaty ending Russian involvement in the war. The Bolsheviks felt that "revolution would sweep through Germany" and would restore to them Ukraine and other areas "ceded" to the Germans.

Not to be outdone the German General Staff after the war ended were enraged at their "betrayal". A legend came into being that the German people did not surrender but were betrayed. The traitors came in many stripes, including political radicals like the Spartacists, who were Communists. A communist regime also took root in Hungary.

The Staff began to train new talent to deal with these "evil forces". Among their trainees was a man of "unmistakable natural charisma" who had "wide piercing eyes" and a "sense of dramatic passion".

A Psychological Ops group took this young man under their wing, teaching him speaking methods, persuasion and oratory tricks. This man had been a runner on the Western Front during the Great War, earning himself an Iron Cross for his bravery and a wound badge for surviving not only shrapnel but mustard gas attacks.

Later he would be sent to investigate a tiny little political group known as the National Socialist Workers Party of Germany. In time this young man would rise to its top ranks and dominate it.

His name was Adolf Hitler.

Which chapter, Pavel? I know that the chapter on Spys talks of dealing with double agents but where does this book talk of assassins?

The Johnson White House called them back.... My boss recalls the horror he felt at this "betrayal", as well as the wonder of launching fighters "hot". I guess that the process burned the carrier decks?

These men endured hours of attacks with napalm, automatic firearms and eventually when the torpedo boats appeared the attacks suddenly "stopped".

The Israelis claimed that the ship "looked like an Egyptian boat" though the crew claimed to have "exchanged waves" with Israeli pilots prior to the attack. They also hoisted an huge ensign, a big big US flag, to show their identity.

Story I read was that the Israelis wanted to keep their approach to the Golan Heights 'quiet" and suspected that the Liberty was eavesdropping on them. So they tried to silence it lest their surprise be lost.

Later the Israelis paid an "indemnity" for the dead and wounded.

Stupid Conspiracy Ideas....

The Soviet Union, soon after signing the Biological Weapons Treaty with the US, embarked on a huge Bio-Weapons program. They claimed that the US was "going to cheat" so "why not us too".

Amongst their more boneheaded moves was to develop a way to make a "small pox" aerosol" and put it into ICBMs. They expected to launch these at the US while we were on the "night side" to protect the virus from sunlight.

They figured that the US was "far enough away" to protect the Russian people from the gigantic plague of small pox they were going to deliver to us. I guess that they never countered on modern air travel to deliver enough infected people back to them?

Soviet scientists developed an amazing and horrible biological weapon. They took a common disease bacteria and genetically engineered it to express a protein found in nerves. When Guinea Pigs were exposed to it they developed the initial disease. Then they became paralyzed. The organism "taught" their immune systems to attack their own nerves!!!

One day a Soviet Scientist was working with guinea pigs and Marburg Virus. He broke protocol and did not strap down the guinea pig before delivering the innoculation. The animal struggled and in the process of him aiming the syringe he accidentally injected the virus into himself. His colleagues could not get him help fast enough, there were serums and the prospect of a whole blood transfusion if they "worked fast enough" but due to delays they did not take these procedures soon enough. Soon he died of the disease. Towards the end he cried "tears of blood" and leaked blood through his pores. After his death he was buried in a special coffin. Thus ended the career of Dr. Ustinov, a rather good worker in the opinion of his boss, Ken Alibek.

Biowarfare people will use animals like guinea pigs to "maintain virulence" of their "stocks". The virus was found to be far more lethal than its "parent". So in honor of the dead scientist the "strain was weaponized" and named "Marburg Virus, Variant U".

They probably figure that they have to be crafty to survive. One or two atomic bombs would waste most of Israel. I am not fan of their policies towards Arabs though I admire their ingenuity in other areas.

This is one of the freakiest....

During the early days of World War II the Soviets supported the Chinese Communists, who were having an awful low level war with the Kuomintang. At that time the Japanese had invaded through Korea, taking the northern parts of China, which they called "Manchukuo".

The Japanese and Russians co-existed uneasily. There were occasional border clashes, such as in 1938 at Khalkin-Gol.

The Imperial Japanese Army which occupied Manchukuo called itself the "Kwangtung Army". It was an agent of Japanese Imperialism, in a lot of ways acting separate of the Army "back home".

The Khalkin Gol incident involved elements of the Soviet Army versus the Kwangtung Army. The Japanese were hammered unmercifully though they might have massed enough force to finally push the Soviets back into the Siberia, as they had done in the late 1910s when they occupied a huge chunk of Siberia.

Stalin, realizing that fighting a two front war with the Germans and Japanese would be impossible, came up with an awful plan.

He wanted agents in the Kuomintang to DELIBERATELY provoke the Japanese into going south rather than north.

Two Soviet agents in the KMT, don't recall their names, were high level officers in the KMT Army. They provoked the Japanese Army by attacking sentries on a bridge in Northern China and by other forms of "harassment" against small Japanese units.

Eventually, "provoked beyond reason" the Imperial Japanese Army and its Kwangtung Army subsidiary, went south rather than north into Siberia.

Millions of Chinese, soldiers and civilians alike, were killed.

Stalin was able to remove troops from Siberia and send them after the Germans, preventing them from taking Moscow.

Mao Tse Tung was not a formal part of this scheme though he obeyed Stalin's wishes to cooperate to 'expel the fascists" from China.

People sometimes wonder why the Chinese and Russians are not completely friendly... this might have something to do with it. The Soviets let Chinese die to save Russians.

No shame in surviving, Pavel. This isn't a fist fight or a duel. This is war. The only shame in warfare is defeat.

BTW, the USSR and Nazis had "shoot around the corner" firearms too. Look up "Krummlauf" with the MP-44. The USSR used both a PPSh-41 and RPK variant with curved barrels. Much as I despise the governments of both of these nations they were experienced in the study of warfare.
