Would You Let One Of Your Best Friends Drive Your Yaris?
Okay, say you had a best friend who has no experience driving a car without ABS, is lowered, and is on low profile tires? Your friend also admits to not having good depth perception and brakes late and hard. Your friend is also used to driving bigger trucks. Would you let your friend drive your car on a long trip?

sounds like a lot of people i know. I would say no. I would guess in your car he'll become alot more paranoid since:
1. it aint his car 2. the car is smaller, and lower. 3. cant see the front end at all. up to you :) have him sign a legal document or something lol |

LMAO, I'm just worried at the fact that he brakes late and hard (no choice but to since his lack of depth perception), and that he doesn't avoid pot holes. I may just suck it up and drive the 7-8 hours straight myself. My gf, and my other two best friends can keep me awake. hahaha. Also those reasons, and my car is only insured under my name.

yeah owning a truck that normally glides over potholes can affect your rims lol. I also find myself breaking alot later since my old car had a very long nose, and the yaris having a almost no nose at all, it messes my mind up. if you got other ppl going, yeah, make the drive, and bring some jolt to drink, you'll be fine.

Slowy getting there
|
I have only let 2 people I know drive my car that was my GF and one of the members on here that almost didn't get slowed down in time for a big dip in the road. He's on stock and wasn't used to my DF's. Besides that the only other people that have driven my car have been a couple of techs at the dealership. Plus 7-8 hour drive isn't bad. I do that alone when I visit my brothers in Kansas City. I save keep it safe keep the car beautiful drive it yourself. Then you don't have to worry about losing a friend when you ask for money to cover damages

I ran into a similar problem when I had to drive to Minneapolis when I first got my yaris. My girlfriend and I had to drive there and back (about 7 hrs each way) in one day....
She is an admittedly bad driver so I just had to suck it up and drive 14 hours... It sucked but I can't tell you how glad I was to get home with my car still in on piece. If he offers to drive just brush it off and be like "nah I'm good to drive". Haha that's really the ony way I can think of staying behind the wheel the whole time without offending him or making it seem like you doubt his abilities. Good luck with whatever you decide! |

WTF? "...suck it up and drive the 7-8 hours straight?" Child's play! If you can't do a 7-8 day of driving then you shouldn't be behind the wheel of a car! My 73-year-old mother still drives more than that in a day!
My record is nearly 24 hours of driving, from San Diego to Little Rock, with one 1-hr power nap along the way! It sucked royally, as I was driving a mid-80s Honda Accord with no a/c; and I was a lot younger then (22), but it was doable. Pucker up, buttercup, and just do the driving yourself! Your friend sounds like an accident waiting to happen! |

yea you can definatly drive 7-8 hours straight, i have a similar story actually...my friend has an 04 VW Jetta and just like how we treat our yaris' he treats his VW. so anyhow, the road trip was from ontario canada to florida...its hard to drive that straight but since he knew how i treat my yaris i was the only other that was allowed to drive the VW...moral of the story is that if you show that you take pride and take care driving your car, you can drive someoen else's but if u drive like a dummy u cant simple as that! 8 hours aint bad buddy you wont even need to have a jolt just play dem beats

I want your best friend! I always tell my friends if they think they are going to wreck - TOTAL it... I owe way more than its worth and they'd be doing me a favor. However safety is the key, parts and cars are replaceable, people are not :)

I've let a few of my friends and my dad all drive my car... but with yours, might as well do it yourself...

Frankly, if your freind has depth perception that is that much of a concern I'd not only dis-allow him use my vehicles but I'd also recommend he not drive anything on public roadways. Has he rear-ended many?

"Would You Let One Of Your Best Friends Drive Your Yaris? "
No, because the manual transmission really does take a while before you get the hang of it on the Yaris and I think my friends who drive autos would get frustrated. Plus I don't want anyone torturing my little car while they're trying to learn - I stalled it enough times myself when I first got it At times, I wish I had gotten an auto in case I have to let someone drive it, but I didn't, so the answer is no. |
