The car has a pretty good st-steel header on it stock. The power is in the exhaust. High flow cats + 2" > 2-1/4" pipes. Larger is badder**. Go local to a good race shop. I'm lucky, I have 3 speed ways and 1 dragstrip near by so there are a lot of backwoods roundy-round race shops that do stuff for cheaper than China Import Commie Garbage.

I wish I had dyno'd with each part individually. I got 17 whp increase with intake, header, axle-back exhaust and crank pulley.

SO, if the header was a zero, those other mods sure paid off.

Micro Image forums, online store and shop are now closed. It was a great eight year run, but it was time to focus on other things. I'm still selling parts on eBay under micro*image seller ID and customers can still make requests for anything specific.

Hey, it adds up exponentially! (whoa, that doesnt make math sense - but it may be a good geek math joke). In other words, It's MORE than the sum of the individual parts. The mods feeds off each other like vampire whores.

- NO! not: MODerators!

I have UD pulley, CAI, and Thunder axle-back exhaust w/ stock exhaust manifold, and am making basically the same 17 whp gain that Garm got off the same mods with a header. It doesn't seem like the header does very much for our engine. If you go with a full custom exhaust, I'd guess you'll see a few more ponies, but I think we're gettign pretty close to the max HP on this engine (NA) without getting into engine internals/ higher compression mods. You're right to think about getting lighter rather than getting more HP.

As other have said, you want to have a good vision for your mods before you start investing. If you only plan to have some fun with the car and keep the budget low, then my route w/ some light wheels/tires and a few suspension mods will probably make you happy. If you really want a serious street/strip machine, then save your $$ and buy a FI setup that will really perform at a much higher level, then beef-up the rest of the car to handle it.

Yeah I have found that the most important things to me at least are lightening up the car, and suspension. I would like a faster throttle response and a little bit more power but not a crazy amount, and thats it... Very doable in NA I think... As far as FI, I just can't see myself doing it until I get another vehicle and make this one a toy... soon probably...

Nice so that's what the mods do now? They delete our posts.... wow looks like it's the mods we should be worried about, and not confrontational people. way to go mods

Stop posting off-topic BS and I'll stop deleting it. It's really that simple.
