The geek press has been talking a lot about how "big" that phone is.

I don't know about you but I think it's just right

What do you think, does this phone makes my hand look fat?

Here is the EVO, and here is a Nexus One for comparison.

oh, I think that's the protective cover.

If you mean at the bottom? That, I believe is where the buttons are (back, menu, home, and search) and the trackpad.

google "EVO unboxing youtube" and you should find the techs' initial reviews. Looking at these videos can give you a very good idea of what to expect before you get the phone in your hands.

I think I posted Phonedog's video, but there is also mobileburn, wirefly and others

i dont mind it being big. As long as its thin and fits in my pocketing w/o a buldge.

So...you got a Nexus phone? You're on bart :)

BART during commute hours is the best place to find Nexus 1's in the wild. (outside of the Google campus and Google developer's conventions ;) Most of the N1s I've looked at were on BART

So.... who's getting an EVO next week ???

Preliminary reviews say the battery life isn't the greatest but I guess that's to be expected.

BTW, I just noticed something about the EVO the other day: there is no trackpad or joystick. The unit is entirely touchscreen.

@kioshi the EVO is remarkably thin, considering all the stuff they packed in there. But it's rounded on the back so it slides in a pocket easily.

You'll certainly feel it in your pocket, though because it's hefty and wider than a standard candy bar phone.

Just go look at it, it's the best way for you to judge if it's for you or not. It'll be out next week at Radio Shack, Best Buy and Sprint stores.

Sure I will! I just haven't decided yet, believe it or not

I have an appointment to go see the EVO (yes, they give you appointments because they expect the release day to be really crazy) ;)

It's between 2 phones now. I would be all over the EVO but I'm a bit leary of that battery life everybody's complaining about in the geek press (incredible seems to have the same problem, probably sense widgets and apps running in the background sucking it dry).

It's possible.

I'm between 2 models, have been for 2 weeks and if I can believe the comments on the geek blogs and sites, I'm not alone ... The EVO is possibly the Top Dog out there right now, and when I had it in my hands, I developed a huge lust for it. But it does have a couple of issues and may not be the best choice for me. (Battery life worries me the most, size not an issue for me)

The other phone I have in mind will be my default fall-back phone (it, too has its own issues, and strong points, but different ones).

Friday, I have an appointment at Radio Shack to go play with an live EVO, which will undoubtedly help me decide one way or the other, so we'll see...

You know it's really hard to decide how you like a hand-held unit until you actually hold it in your hands ;)

Meh, my sony w810i, and the mt3g were kinda no brainers for me, never even held them lol. I had liked the touch pro 2 and had it for 2 days or so, but windows limitations and kinda flimsy flip up killed it for me.

Originally I wanted to buy the G1, b/c it had everything I wanted, but they talked me out of it. Then I wanted the Hero and I forget what happened there or why I couldn't get it. Now it looks like they're cranking out phones every 2 months, so no matter what you get, you're likely to have buyer's remorse in 6 weeks I predict that no matter what I get, the Samsung Galaxy S is going to kick it's little phone-@ss in 6 - 12 weeks, and then we'll be looking at the fall / holiday releases... so enough waiting.

Anyway, it's D-day minus one if I'm gonna pull the trigger on the EVO so we'll see ;)
