Don't believe most of the info you are reading out there... Tons of people just take the Toyota press release and try to sexy it up - even the Toyota release has a typo, we did not start with a 5-door. The engine is not balanced and blueprinted, 100% OE Toyota bottom end, never touched.

Also keep in mind, as I said when I posted the old dyno sheet, this is from a Dynapak, these are not at the wheels numbers. While I think we made great power for our first crack at this engine, it is not a 145hp at the wheels monster. In reality it should be down a hp or two from that, since we had to pull what was left of the aluminum pulleys off.

Yes it was. I think the head and cams yielded a very small return.

Bolt-ons and the Camcon will get you 90% of what we made. For the rest you need to get past the rev limiter, the AEM got us that, and better control of VVT-i, this is where the next chunk of power came from.

With our Level 2 prep limits only allowing us max .390 cam lift, and port matching 1" in, we did not make a lot of power on the head. There is still a lot left in there, but as long was we race the car in H Prod we can't go further into the head.

No, that was our old dyno sheet. Before the AEM, cams and port work. That was bolt-ons and the Camcon.

In a nutshell - the power stuff:
AEM EMS series 2 - you need the ability to control the VVT-i/fuel/ign to make all the other parts work to full potential. Without a tune you will get minimal gains from the rest. This car was originally tuned for economy and reliability, there is a lot of power that can be unlocked with a proper tune.
Okada coils
K&N intake
DC header/Coast Fab muffler/no cat
SPEC aluminum flywheel
NST pulleys - these were on when we did the dyno runs, and for most of the season. Once we started running 7300+rpm on the track the crank pulley failed, so we went back to stock.

am i reading this right? you had the NST pulleys installed, then when u tweeked the engine and started running higher revs the NST crank shaft pulley broke? how bad was the damage?

also, im assuming that the NST pulleys are a bad idea for running past the stock rev limiter then?

this worries me cuz i just installed these guys and i autocross. sometimes on a quick straight i will stay in second and let the rev limiter bounce if there is a quick turn not to far but would be losing time if i go to third.

If you're on your rev limiter, you are at around 6250. You can't run past the stock rev limiter.

Jason's pulley broke in two, completely destroyed. Pretty sure a pic got posted.
