Europeans are "thrifty", vast majority have learned that it is easier to commute if you have a smaller car, that city life can be so much simpler with a small turning radius and short wheelbase. It is only now this concept of automotive living is becoming a reality here in the US. Just getting people to trade down to a lower cost and sometimes a slower car is a hard thing to grasp.

Some of these smaller cars are not necessarily slower than my Yaris. I wish we had more small cars to choose from out here. Parking out here is getting more and more difficult
