The assumption MAY be flawed because of a basic principle that states: correlation does not imply causation. In other words, just because A and B occur together it doesn't mean that A causes B or vice versa. Maybe some other factor, C causes both...
Maybe people who don't drink much soda eat healthier as well, maybe they exercise more, etc so overall, they may have a healthier metabolism... Who knows? Statistics are a complicated science... On average I drink more than one can of soda per day, so yeah I think about pancreatic cancer sometimes... even with an 87% higher chance, that means the risk increases from say 1 in 9,000 people to 1 in 5,000 or so people... I wonder what my risk is of getting into a severe car accident tomorrow on my way to work. I bet it's worse than 1 in 5,000 ![]() I also love chocolate and eat quite a lot of it... dang, my pancreas' days must be numbered
