My housemate drives a Yaris and says she gets low 30's MPG combined. I get mid 40's combined. It's very driver-dependent and VERY location dependent. My FX-16 averages about 40 MPG here, but I remember it occasionally getting below 30 MPG in the winter in Denver.
It might be fun to have two MPG benchmarks - the current one plus a "conservative driver" benchmark that reflects those of us who aren't road ragers. Might give people a heads-up about their wasteful driving habits.
