DIY: debadging trunk chrome thing, help?!?

before you question me,
YES i have looked at the stickys, the DIY compilation thread, and the debadging thread,
YES i have debadged my emblems before and put them back as well.
i doubt there is a DIY thread on doing this specific piece, but if there is and i missed it some how, i am very sorry

excuse me for not knowing what to call it, but ill call it the Trunk Chrome Key Guard Thing (TCKGT)

but my goal is to take it off, black it out, and put it back on, all of which i know how to do EXCEPT taking it off.

im curious if my Trunk Chrome Key Guard Thing is different from the peoples TCKGTs' who have taken theirs off, the reason be, is because mine wraps down under, shown in the pics below:





ive tried to use floss but it just keeps ripping on me over and over again.
so i feel like im doing something wrong, therefore the reason of this thread.
should i just be soaking the cracks of this sucker with wd-40 and have it with more floss???


appreciate it if anyone could help me out
