The victims weren't 'not brave'...they were in a situation that had no protection. Apparently there were no armed police officers close and the campus probably didn't allow arms on the premisis...so there was no protection. At least on airplanes everyone is screened before boarding and hopefully there is an armed air marshall on board. I don't know the statistics but guns are harder to obtain, it seems to me, than they used to be, and violent shootings seem to be occuring more often??? Myself I would prefer honest law abiding citizens were allowed to have guns....if you have to be a criminal just to own a gun, you're already a bad guy.
I've used guns in the Army, the first gun I owned was puchased a just few years ago just before the government started requiring a life history, and I'm now 56....and I believe in everyones right to own a gun or not (until they are proven to be a criminal). The students deserve our respect and sorrow....I only wish there had been a better system in place to protect them from a homicidal killer.
