Oil Filter YZZN2 not tight enough
Hi
Last weekend I replaced my oil filter on my 2019 Yaris which is the black oil filter 90915-YZZN2. The instructions on the oil filter states..... "Tighten the filter another 3/4 turn with the dedicated tool after the gasket makes contact with the installation surface" I marked out the 3/4 turn, almost certain I tightened 3/4 of a turn using a proper oil filter tool so I am bit puzzled as to where I went wrong. When I replaced the oil filter I took the car for a drive (+/- 30km) making sure there are no leaks but this evening I noticed a thin layer of oil around the oil filter so it appears there is a small leak, no drops forming on the oil filter so the leak appears to be small. My questions are: 1. Can you tighten a filter which is already in use or you recommend a new oil filter? 2. Could I tighten more than 3/4 turn without doing damage? Would one full turn be the maximum? 3. Both the 2009 and 2019 Yaris use the same oil filter what is the torque spec? Thanks in Advance |
