The positive thing is that a lot of people are quickly posting about it here which means they are OK! I think the "real world" safety rating of the Yaris must be pretty good.

I feel pretty safe in mine-the agility of the Yaris has saved me from even making contact a couple of times. Not much you can do though when you're stopped at a light minding your own business.

Bronzebullet-glad you're OK, hope you are treated fairly on the financial end.

I guess I don't share your mentality. This is the first car I have bought and still paying for. This is also the nicest car I have owned. I take lots of pride in my car for reasons that you couldn't begin to understand.

i feel the same way. being 25 and struggling bills and paying this thing monthly i dont see it as a throw away car. if so i wouldnt be out there every week vacuuming and reading it poetry lol

although truth be told i wouldnt mind getting out of the loan some how and buying one that was used for like 7k less than what i owe lol

+1 - a lot of us are in the same age range and are just getting started, so this car is a big deal to us lol I love my Yaris and don't think I'd get over it anytime soon if something was to happen to her. This is the first car I spent over $5k on, had less than 100k miles on when purchased, had to take a loan out for, and owned for more than 6 months

So disposable, she is not!

+1.

I am very proud of my Yaris and did a lot of research on small cars available in the US before getting it.

Yes, I'm the same person who complains constantly on this forum about 1st gear being too touchy and getting caught in the cross wind, but I still love my ride , so it's definitely not a disposable car for me.

OP, glad you're OK. Keep the Y chromosome comment to yourself when you call your insurance, especially if you hear a female voice answering the phone

Lol. You guys and girls all crack me up. People in general are way too worried about being PC these days. Stereotypes are funny. Laugh a little.

As for my situation, still have to take the moron to small claims for the bike. My insurance is covering my car and all my aftermarket parts fortunately. I'll be rollin in a brand new 2010 Black 3dr in a week! : ) And I'll be able to buy all my mods right away! Things are looking up...

Nice!! I'm sorry about your bike though :( At least it will be an easy win, I'm sure. That's awesome that they aren't giving you any hassle about the after market stuff, I've heard some horror stories about that. Make sure to post pics!!

Stereotypes are stupid. .02

Political correctness is a PITA when overused, I'll give you that. But on a public forum like this one, you gotta be a little more careful. Just because you and a couple of your online buddies think something is funny, doesn't mean everybody does, in other words, crossing certain lines (gay jokes come to mind) can makes us look like jerks to the whole world out there, so everybody keep that in mind please
