Trade in my 04 corolla for a 05 Jaguar Type X what do you think?
.
Yes my dad is willing to give me his Jaguar for nothing but I have to give my corolla to my cousin. Both cars are around 90K. Is this crazy? or stupid? I know Jag is all wheel drive, but not as good on fuel, insurance may be more $ and repairs are more money. The good thing this is going to be the family car, I'm keeping my Yaris! Thank you .

I wouldn't because of the mileage. The Xtypes around that year were always having problems, especially with the suspension. At 90k, I don't know how much longer I'd expect the Jag to last without becoming a money pit. Just my opinion though, I do think it would be an upgrade in appearance though

I agree, the Jag will end up costing you a lot more money and honestly, it won't look that good when it breaks down and you find out how expensive it is to repair!
Just my advice, but I would recommend passing on this "deal." Cheers! M2 |

Seconded. Jaguar is a very high-maintenance and expensive machine just to own, never mind operate; it gets worse as the machine ages.
I have an E-Type being rebuilt right now, so I know of which I speak! |

It's tempting but I would keep the Corolla and my money. Expensive cars = expensive parts, repairs, maintenance and in the end, too many headaches. |

So we traded cars over the weekend and after driving for about 250 miles going here and there we came out with a conclusion...
NO WAY!!! we are keeping our COROLLA!!! turn out that our car is in much better shape than the Jag. I figure out that the Jag. was going to be trouble sooner or later, suspension, wheels, tires, alignment issues, overall it wasn't as good as the Toyota. and Better millage (of course) 37.8 vrs 22.4 MPG Thank you everybody... PS... guess what? My dad fell in love with our Corolla! . TOYOTA .

Smart choice. And on a side note: the X-Type Jaguar was based on the Ford Contour/Mondeo platform. My 2000 (purchased new) Contour SVT was pretty nice but it had quite a few problems in the short time I owned it.

The x-type is one of the most trouble prone cars there is. Glad you decided against it.
