CV axle DIY?

How difficult is it to get the CV axle to slide out from the transaxle housing?

They come out independently on the Yaris. I find them extremely easy to remove, as there is a nice notch on the inner joint that l get a giant flat blade screwdriver onto and then whack the handle of the screwdriver with a hard rubber mallet.
