Speaking from experience, the padding does next to nothing in even small impacts. Don't believe me? I used to drive this.

I hit my head on the padded bars a number of times jumping it. It would be ugly in an accident. I should have gotten a racing style seat for it






There is a reason why cars with roll cages use harnesses and racing seats. This car is not the safest thing to be inside in the event of an accident anyway. Unless you have proper racing seats, harnesses, etc. then a cage can be very dangerous. Or you could just wear a helmet every day.
