Probably a Fit, but that was if I couldn't get financing I wanted with Toyota. Even with the price difference.
Was considering a 1st gen xB, but the prices for decent mileage ones in my area were only a couple $1,000 less than a brand new Yaris, so decided to go brand new rather than used. |

Didn't include the Rabbit and Mini because they get expensive fast (even the base's are pricey).

From the list I picked the Hyundai Accent, because it was the only car available that had 2 doors and a 5MT. If either the Rabbit or Mini came in diesel over here, I would've seriously considered paying too much for it.

Of the ones listed on the poll, I would've bought a Kia Rio5. I really liked it, but liked the Yaris more. You got a lot for your money, however, the engine/trans didn't feel as refined, and it was fairly loud on the highway compared to the Yaris.
However, if I had a few extra buck, I would've bought a Suzuki SX4.

I'm voting Fit, but I considered a classic 2nd hand Impreza, Mazda 3, and Ford Focus (the cool Euro style one you guys don't get
)

I voted for another Toyota; there are few other cars out there with the reputation. However, for the money, I would have bought a used Volvo; my 245 is 32 years old with 180,000 miles on it, and does many, many things better than the Yaris...

My options were:
New 07 Yaris New 07 xA New 07 Fit Used 03 Civic SI Hatch :Blastphamy: Only reason I wish I would have gone with the Xa, is because the next year they were discontinued...might just have to buy one eventually. JDM iST baby!!! But cant say I dont love my Yaris any more than I would have loved an xA. Oh and as for the Civic, I drove it and just didnt like the shifter placement...thats what made me toss out that choice.

I had a smart fortwo ordered but my Neon was gettin' sickly and I had to buy fast. The smart dealer gave me a major 3 car run around trying to get an orphan and I finally bailed to buy my Yaris. The only other car/coupe in the $$ ballpark was the Accent and it wasn't bad for the money.

Honestly, I would have reverted to an xA.

Yeah, I thought about the xA, too and the Rabbit, Focus, Cobalt, Versa......the price really kept me down to the original 3.

Wow, the Honda Fit has taken a strong lead.
I think the two main reasons many people didn't get the Fit was that it was two pricey for the Sport (necessary) and the extreme scarceness of the '07-'08's. |

I hate to say it but when it really comes down to it, the Toyota dealer was closer than the Honda dealership.

![]() What kind of distances are we talking about? When I went shopping, I searched within a 300 mile radius. I'd easily drive 300 miles to a dealer that had the car I wanted. |

Yes, the Fit would have been my other choice, and those two reasons worked against it. The only other car I looked at this time was the Nissan Versa, and for me it didn't come close to the Fit and the Yaris. Ironically, once the Yaris won out I ended up getting the sedan instead of the hatchback anyway.

Would have been a Mini for me
Much happier with the Yaris-- Half the price, reg unleaded gas and better, cheaper mods- oh and I just don't have the attitude for a Mini |
