I had a friend have a similar thing happen in his MR2. The cop followed him for 10+ miles, then finally pulled in behind him in his driveway and turned on his lights, all of this at 2am. His reason? My friend's city lights were "Awful blue looking."

These are the some of the many many many reasons I hate 5-0.

No ticket. the failure to appear was from 4 years ago from 2 counties over when my buddy (who was 20 years old) was on leave serving full time for the U.S. Army. He got a ticket for underaged drinking and missed his court date because he was in Iraq. So the failure to appear warrant came out and we all forgot about it because it was Years ago. He's a good guy, doesn't live a life of crime. He fully 100% cooperated with the deputy who gave him a ride to the jail let him pay his cash and gave him a ride back to his house.

No I did not get a ticket or a warning or anything because the license plate light is WHITE... not blue.

They now have license plate recognition in our county. A cop can scan plates on the move and get a red flag read out on drivers with outstanding warrants.

Geez I have a "bluish" LED license plate light too, but not really worried about it around here. It's amazing how many people tint their tails and headlights, along with using actual blue blinker lights that NEVER get pulled over.

Ok take care of your court dates. I get that. Now...how about dont they have to have a REAL reason to pull you over? I mean, isnt the officer supposed to ply by the rules too?

Sure they are.

But you don't want to give them any reason whatsoever to pull you over.

Some places where the cops have nothing better to do, they'll pull you for any reason, especially at 2:00 a.m. because that's when the bars close.

Yeah from 1:30-3:00 they're pull you over for anything they can. I've been pulled over for going 26 in a 25. No ticket, but he was more than likely checking for insurance as I drove my '71 Ford Galaxie with black primer and bondo. The lamest excuse I'd gotten was I got pulled over for not yielding to a green light.

Don't some vehicles come with LED license plate bulbs from the factory (e.g. Lexus models)? Not that it would help ...

I have an LED license plate bulb and haven't had any issues (knock on wood).
