If I were you I would take the car to a few local body shops and get bids you can probally buy some aftermarket upgrade parts like you wanted and in the end have money in your pocket lefover to cover your deductable so you pay nothing if you have them write you a check. Just keep in mind if you do that and then the body shop doing the work finds something that the adjuster didnt its more of a hassle then if you go to one of the insurance designated body shops. However in my experience and familys experience the insurance designated body shops tend to do a mediocer job not real good but not real bad either. They use them because they are cheaper. A lot of times they used used bumpers refurbished parts sometimes body lines dont line up perfectly or paint isnt a perfect match. They dont blend the paint. '
So either way its still not a bad idea to have a high quality body shop look at it one that you know has good reviews or referral from a friend. |

^ yea, I think the only down fall to do it my self is that the only other car I got is a Rav4 that has a transmission that has problems shifting from 1st to 2nd and sometimes 2nd to 3rd. Runs fine other than that.
I will weigh my options and make a decision tomorrow. Will go around a few good body shops and get some quotes also. I think the most expensive and wide range cost would be getting it painted.

quick update. Just got email back from Toyota Collision body shop I went to yesterday to get an estimate. They quoted $3,491... $1,534 in parts, rest is labor and misc supplies. $739 in body labor, $563 in paint labor and $136 in glass labor.
If it only cost $1,500 in parts from a dealer.. looks like I may do this myself.. gonna check one other shop today after work.

Damn sorry to hear about your ride. Glad to hear that your car is not written off.

Thanks, guys,
yeppers, its going to the body shop this weekend and they will start working on it monday. found out that my friend who owns a body shop is now doing insurance jobs. He will be doing the work, he painted my rear bumper and side skirts. So I think I will be getting that vented fiber glass hood and new front bumper to match the rest of my body kit. which front bumper should I go with?....

God. Exact same choices I am having trouble with. May go with the c-one. Will look good with fender flares like Garms. But I do like the Genesis one a lot too

Does the front fascia only have the one tear (driver side upper corner of grill)?
It looks like it is fixable (plastic welded and bodyworked) for less than $300. |

Yea. Just the tear. I'm actually gonna keep the damaged front bumper and get the bumper latches for the front like I do for my rear bumper. I will be able to swap bumpers at the autocross event now and still be in stf class. The vented bumpers and vented hood puts me in SMF class.

Glad to hear you're alright. I see about 20 plus deer on my way home at night.
Thank God He lets me see them first. Want to get an 18 wheeler for my daily drive back and forth to work. |

Thanks.. I know I am lucky because I had my coffee thermos in my hand too.. Air bags didn't deploy which would have hurt like hell if I was taking a sip.
update. Dropping off car Wednesday at the body shop.

Deer are a constant concern here too. But yesterday I was on I-15, doing my usual 60 mph, and some yahoo pulling a open trailer full of crap (moving or going to the dump, couldn't tell) had a LazyBoy blow out right in front of me. I was far enough behind by chance so by the time I passed the chair it was stopped, never a problem for me but sure could have been! It stopped right on the dotted line between lanes so not an immediate hazard to others, rather then stop and deal with it myself I called 911 as the trooper barracks was only a half mile away and they got the flashers etc.
While I had the 911 op on the horn, I had exited and as it happened, pulled up along the still clueless trailer puller. " Here's his license number, he'll be driving by the barracks in about a minute". Sneaky yeah, but damn he needs a heads up on securing his frigging load! |

I hit a deer at NIGHT doing 60 down a dark highway. Never saw it. It took out the front drivers light ,hood and the whole side of the car. the drivers door window exploded but the tints held it together.
The damage was MUCH more than what you show and I was able to get the whole door, hood, headlight door glass at the boneyard. looks like an easy fix. My car was a 1989 Isuzu IMark RS hatchback with handling by Lotus. Same engine as the Lotus Elise minus the Turbo...
