Here's another test drive of the C.V.T. ( 45.8 m.p.g. mixed ) and the manual ( 44 m.p.g. similar to C.V.T. ) , http://cars.about.com/od/mitsubishi/...age-review.htm . May have to check them out soon .

We had a '90 hatchback . Didn't like it all that well . Knee would hit the dash and didn't do well in winter , even with studded snows . Sold it . Liked the '80 ( 1.4ltr. + 1.6 ) > '87 ( 1.5 ltr. ) better . Also had a EAGLE Summit sedan ( lots of room ) with the 5 speed manual for a short time . Sold it and that car went on for many years for that person .

^^^^^ Almost forgot, is the car in the 'Manual SE Video' directly above the same in the U.S. (the dealer in the video is in Calgary) ?

Wow. That car looks quite a bit like the Nissan March. Not sure if they offer it in the States, though.
march_front.jpg march_rear.jpg I guess I like the Mirage a bit more, now that I see them side by side...

^^ New Nissan March looks very nice. I like it. The earlier March was so cool!

My local Mitsubishi dealer has 3 of them, so I drove over to take a look. The info section for each car didn't include which transmission each car had, but the mileage numbers for the manual were included with the info for each car. After arriving, I peeked into each car and all 3 = CVT, not manual . They had two of the D series (a Purple one, and a Black one) and one of the more expensive ES (a Silver one). The Silver and Purple ones did not have a 'pac' sticker, and the Black one did have a 'pac' sticker (adding about $1500 for some sort of protectant ). The two D series ones had alloy wheels that were listed as a promotion on the factory sticker and weren't added to the price. IIRC, the website also included a $750.00 factory rebate for each of the three.
I really like the dash. The layout, the way it 'sits' high and away from you, and most other things about the dash. I like the steering wheel. The seats aren't constricting, but they are pretty poor when it comes to support. As far as I could tell, all 3 had 14" alloy wheels (too small). Under the hood, it didn't look like the wiring, especially where it meets the parts it is routed to, is very well protected. The air intake (looked like a horn on top of the engine ) reminded me of old carburated vehicles. The engine sounded okay (I didn't drive one). The seat pulls (to release the rear seats, allowing the backs to be folded down) for some reason, are on the back of the seat. With the hatch closed and the package shelf in place, you can't release the seats (I tried). The pull angle (once you are even able to grab the pulls) won't allow for release. Perhaps they think this will discourage theft (, bad design IMO). The driver door sounds very solid when closing it (I didn't try again with the window down). Can't think of any other impressions at the moment. P.S. Oops, by 'info section for each car' I mean info section for each car on the dealer's website Last edited by nookandcrannycar; 11-11-2013 at 10:36 AM. Reason: Added P.S. |

Thanks for your take . The 14" tires don't bother us . The cars in the past had "12 ( Festiva ) to 14" ( '99 Corolla ? ) . Maybe next weekend we'll take a few for a test drive and see what you're referring to with the seats , etc..

FWIW, I only sat normally in the driver's seat. I sat sideways (and then kneeled) on the back seat while trying to pull the seat release.
