New Project AE86...!

Hey Guys,

Just picked it yesterday. It was from a friend who wasn't had to let it good. I've wanted one of these for years. Ever since I first saw Takumi driving down Mt. Akina (Who hasn't???)

What you see on the pictures is a 1986 SR5 coupe half way to become a GT-S.
The chassis is on excellent condition, and it has a recently swapped bluetop 4A-GE with the T-50 tranny.

The engine was refreshed and tested before going in.

The car came with new Konig wheels, a Momo steering wheel and some bucket seats from an early gen Impreza GT.

I will be working the new project with my younger Bro.

The car will be going the turbo route.... As part of the deal I picked a super rare Trust (Greddy) turbo manifold and the car already has a high capacity fuel pump installed.

The project will likely go slow as the founds are tight... but I will be posting the progress.

The goal. 250rwhp

So what you think?

Don't think so... I like the levin front BUT lots of things to be done first to add the front end makeover to the list.

Very cool. I've never driving an AE86, but I'd love to. They look like a lot of fun.

It's one of the more popular cars since the earlier days of drifting. Under-powered by today's standards, but still popular

^^^

But it was not always popular... at least not on this side of the earth.

In Japan is another story but in America it was only known after Initial D.

But think about it... there are good reasons for it's popularity...

Cheap
Rear wheeldrive
Under 2200lbs with full body
Almost 50 / 50 weight distribution
Tons of aftermaket support
Lots of engine swap options well documented

This car is the ultimate beater... Is 23 years old and the chasis is still really tight. Everything works ok.

Is a great car to learn some driving skills...

Back in the day... this car was way ahead of his time!
