Thanks to the threat of video piracy, Transformers premiers tonight (28 June 07) in Malaysia and possibly other South East Asian countries as well. I guess the idea is that if we get to watch it first, we won't be tempted to get the pirated DVDs filmed from US theatres? I wonder why the authorities didn't figure it could work the other way around as well?
I got my tickets for the 1st of July. Hope its gonna be good. From the cast list, Optimus Prime is voiced by the same guy from generation 1! |

wow so there's still a good amount of people going to the cinema in KL? I remember when I was there, even for pretty big movies, they were rarely more than half full... Which one will you go to?

I'm a little upset they didn't stick to the original vehicles. The part that upsets me the most is that Optimus Prime isn't a cab-over truck. They could have made Bumblebee a Chevette, still would have been a GM advertisement AND a small car
. At least it's being made into a movie, and I can't wait to see it.

Big movies still pack in the crowds here. I feel theres been a resurgance of the cineplex over the last few years. Over here, the new complexes have finally balanced out the size of the theatres to be at least medium sized. In the 90s with the cineplex boom, mini thearters the size of living rooms were all over the place. I think that killed the market for a while.
I'm heading to the Cathay Cineplex in Mutiara Damansara. Its a big standalone building similar to cinema complexes in Australia. Its good because you only need to compete for parking with movie goers and not against shoppers. I paid RM11 (USD3.20) per ticket. I hear that Bangkok cinemas are bigger, fancier, and a lot cheaper... |
