Installed Tach...Tach works, RADIO doesn't!
Well I installed the tachometer today. Its a small 2" sunpro.
Tach works well, but now my radio doesn't work. I followed the DIY on the site for the tach install, but hark, but radio is gone! What could i have done to kill the radio? |

Numero uno, check the fuse as you may have blown it during the wiring.

Look in the owners manual. There should be a diagram of each fuse box on the car and labels for which fuses controls what.

Well, i placed a new fuse for the radio and the radio still doesn't work. I figured that the radio might work if i placed the the originel fuse in the place where i installed the red wire, but that doesn't work either. I can't figure out why the radio might not work.
I had foglights installed at a sound shop. When i was installing the tach there were alot of extra wires in there for the fogs. Could they have something to do with this. I've basically narrowed it do to either the red wire or the white one. Can't be black cause thats ground and nothing to do with audio? and green since its just going to the engine.... I'm confused. |

I'm pretty sure this is a bit off topic but do you mind posting pictures of where you put your tach? I'm just looking at the location of where people who have done the install put their tach before I install mine.
Thanks

something has to be disconected on the radio end.
Go over all wiring, and make sure the harness is plugged into the radio. Troubleshooting should be straightforward. |

My Cd/radio still work. I decided to splice the tach into my foglight instead of running it into the fuse box directly.

I have the blue inside light from the dealer, so maybe I will power the tach from there...

Hmm... the yaris has a switched negative!!! so any battery positive is constant everywhere in the car.
my guess is make sure you don't switch the wrong wire :) |
