I installed an XM receiver this week and I get the hi pitched whine too. The unit has a built in FM transmitter and it didn't whine but it sucked major ass. I found it a bit worse when I max out the unit volume output. Another thing I noticed was that the volume is way lower than CD or FM. :(

I have the same problem. I think I may just switch to the FM transmitter now that I know what is causing it.

I have xm and I'm getting that little whine in the background too! I'm not too familiar with wiring and stuff, but I saw that some of you mentioned hardwiring the power. I would like to know how to do that. Any pics of info, instructions, etc. would be much appreciated.
