air filter multipart
I live and drive in a fairly dusty environment, so air filters on everything I own have to be changed fairly regularly. Access to the primary filter element is easy, but I have also noticed what appears to be a secondary or inner filter element in the air box cover. While it might be 75k to 100k miles before it gets dirty, it will eventually get dirty. I can't figure out how to get the thing out. It appears to be riveted in place with plastic rivets, or maybe it is just stuck really good. I have the stock air box on my sedan, but I have never seen any kind of a secondary filter on a car before (and I've worked on a lot of different cars). a). Is it actually a secondary air filter? b). How do you get it out? It seems like you would need to get the thing out if you ever needed to clean the MAF sensor. The book doesn't talk about the engine air cleaner at all.
