Hi Rain! The 1st suggestion of Esquiva maybe correct. Gas nozzles are equipped with an automatic shut off valve that activates when your tank is full. Factors like the slope of the ground when you fill your tank also impacts on the premature activation of the shut off valve. Another factor that may have contributed to your case is when another driver ahead of you topped off his/her tank, meaning continuing to pump gas even after the shut off valve activates blocking the vapor return line of the dispenser which may create problems to the next driver. Try another gas station next time and if the same happens drive straight to the dealership.
