Useful info thanks Black Yaris - I will take that onboard.
I've had shoulder repairs in my old car before but the repairer swapped it for the spare (he didn't try to sell me a new one so he seemed honest) with the reasons I have stated - so i guess it depends on finding someone who know what they are doing which seems to be impossible in the UK without being ripped off at the same time.
Main thing is - I needed to use the car for my vacation and couldn't really use the space saver if I had any disputes - after that tyre has come off - he'll prob pull out that screw telling me is unrepairable then I'll really be screwed! Unlucky timing....
